Talk with Søren Vinterberg

17:00
19:00

Tintin in the century of the pictorial narrative.
Just as the 19th century was the “century of the novel”, the new pictorial narratives, film and comics came to dominate the entertainment and storytelling of the 20th century. “The Adventures of Tintin” and his motley crew have been compared to Honoré de Balzac’s multi-volume collection of stories “The Human Comedy”. Was Captain Haddock’s encounter with Bianca Castafiore really inspired by Balzac’s story of a castrato though?

Søren Vinterberg, long-standing reviewer of literature, film and comic strips for Danish newspapers Information and Politiken, leads us in the tracks of Tintin and Snowy and identifies their place in the history of literature and visual arts.
Get a new dimension to the story of Hergé, the illustrator behind Tintin. Visit the exhibition after the talk and perhaps see it through new eyes?
