A red thread quite literally runs through the works of the German artist Brigitte Waldach (born 1966). Physically, when she fills a room with a red string in a sort of extended drawing, and abstractly, when she draw figures with a red pencil on a surface of white paper. At Brandts 13, a site-specific work will be created by Waldach inside the monumental stairway hall. Using thread and sound she works with the physical framework, challenging the movement of visitors on the stairway and offering an artistic interpretation of the space we see. In this way Waldach calls attention to the place and activates our senses and curiosity: Where does the string lead? And what happens at the end of it?
