Jake & Dinos Chapman

ruminations on cosmic insignificance

Violence, death, chaos and mutilation beset the fantastic works by the world-famous British artists Jake and Dinos Chapman. Whether it be life-size sculptures of disfigured people or spellbinding miniature worlds of hordes of wax figurines, the two brothers make use of realism to create imaginative and horrendous tales. Here there is no mercy, human tragedy is driven completely over the edge. As in the medieval carnivals where people mockingly laugh at God and their king, the artistic duo likewise makes us smile at the exaggerated and colourful wretchedness of the sculptures.
