He became the best-selling painter of his generation and attained international success among the emancipated jet set of the 1960s. He since withdrew completely from the public eye to devote himself exclusively to his art. Kurt Trampedach is a legend in Danish modern art. He would alternately spellbind his audience with intense paintings and sculptures and shock those around him with a dissolute life style bordering on the extreme. Now the artist has suddenly left us, at the age of only 70, and at Brandts he will be commemorated with a large-scale exhibition that brings together his most important works. The exhibition is organized by art historian Mikael Wivel in collaboration with Brandts.
