The summer’s large-scale photographic exhibition at Brandts takes us on a tour inside the world of presenting the self. As a picture format and phenomenon the selfie has become an indelible part of our present time. It has become a way of visually placing ourselves at centre stage and in practically any context. But are pictures nothing other or more than seductive snapshots of reality? The exhibition presents significant artists who have worked with photographic self portraits, from Andy Warhol to Cindy Sherman, along with present-day celebrities such as Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Kardashian, who use selfies to create stories of themselves.
