250 years of art with a local perspective. Did you know that Brandts Klædefabrik was built during the era when master painters P.S. Krøyer and H.A. Brendekilde were at the top of their game? Towards the end of the 19th century, Odense was the second-largest industrial city in Denmark, after Copenhagen.

Nevertheless, factories and the city’s large port were not what the people of Odense wanted to look at in their living rooms. What they wanted was nature, preferably in its most unspoilt and original form.

Step into the new collection wing and see great moments in Danish art. With Funen as the starting point, Fortællinger fra Fyn tells the story of the textile factory and the Modern Breakthrough – side by side with today’s greatest photographers and filmmakers.
